Description

The words sounded particularly unsettling.

Su Mu couldn’t help but feel a little worried.

But then she thought about how she was still just a nobody, incapable of doing much of anything, and she let out a sigh of relief.

Being a nobody wasn’t something to be proud of, but at least she didn’t have to do things beyond her capabilities.

The less ability, the less responsibility.

No ability, no responsibility!

Just then, her phone rang, interrupting Su Mu’s pleasant reverie.

“Su Mu, are things all sorted out? Then hurry back,” came the languid voice of that woman, Tang Nai, sounding far from reassuring.

“Uh, is there something urgent? I was planning to stop by my rental place.”

“Well, I suggest you don’t go back for now, to avoid giving that old landlady a heart attack.”

Hearing this, Su Mu’s eyes narrowed slightly, a sense of foreboding creeping in.

Soon, she learned the full story from Tang Nai.

Renewing the lease was going to be quite a challenge.

Although Lando was the culprit, to protect the privacy of the magical girls, the incident was staged as a traffic accident.

***

On an orange alert windy day, in order to get back to the rental place as soon as possible, Su Mu sped her motorcycle to a hundred miles per hour on the deserted street.

Just as she was about to arrive, she lost control.

The motorcycle flew out and crashed into the door, smashing it to pieces.

It sounded ridiculous, but that’s how the authorities had ruled it.

And for the old landlady, the best evidence was that she hadn’t seen Su Mu yet.

After seeing the staged accident scene, the landlady thought poor Su Mu had gone to heaven amidst the roar of the motorcycle engine…

The motorcycle was sponsored by Tang Nai, who claimed it could really accelerate to a hundred miles per hour in just three seconds.

“Thanks a lot! For such a convincing cover-up,” Su Mu said.

***

But she had to go back, and clear up some strange misunderstandings.

Although it seemed even more absurd that she had survived such a ridiculous motorcycle accident unscathed, her belongings were still at home.

The most important thing was her computer; she couldn’t afford to lose it.

It was only a few minutes’ walk from Jiaotong University to the Garden Road where Su Mu’s rental place was located.

As the surroundings became more familiar, Su Mu instinctively reached for her keys, only to find nothing there.

Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly realized.

The keys were still inside, but she didn’t need them now.

Sure enough, the door was still lying in the corridor outside, leaving the interior exposed.

The living room was in disarray, with building debris and parts scattered all over the floor, making it hard to find a place to step.

The actor motorcycle had been taken back by Tang Nai, and the motorcycle parts on the ground were clearly just a pile of cheap junk.

The landlady wasn’t there, but there was some noise coming from the bedroom, as if someone else was inside.

Was it a repairman?

No, why wouldn’t they fix the door and instead go into the bedroom?

Could it be a thief?

No matter who it was, Su Mu was going to make the intruder pay.

She tiptoed, carefully avoiding the obstructing debris, and slowly approached the bedroom door, gently pressing her ear against it.

The wooden door had terrible soundproofing, often waking her up with the noisy traffic and honking from the street.

Now, however, it allowed her to hear the movements inside clearly.

The sound of a keyboard being tapped was particularly distinct, occasionally interrupted by the crisp sound of someone chewing chips.

Suspicious, but her computer should have a password.

Could it be that the person was just randomly tapping the keys for fun?

It was also possible that someone had provided technical support, which meant the person inside was likely to be——

Su Mu abruptly pushed the door open and was surprised to find a girl with loose, wine-red hair sitting in her seat.

Miti, who noticed Su Mu, was also somewhat bewildered.

She had her snow-white legs propped up high, her collar disheveled and open to near the southern hemisphere, revealing an exquisite curve inside that looked quite substantial.

She was holding a chip, about to put it in her mouth, while raising an eyebrow at Su Mu.

Her black-framed glasses were casually tossed aside, revealing a pair of narrow, crimson eyes filled with confusion, not expecting the owner of the house to come in at this moment.

A silence, a terrible silence, enveloped the room, with neither of them willing to break it first.

Su Mu slowly moved towards the computer, wanting to see what was on the screen, but Miti quickly blocked her way, her face flushed with guilt and embarrassment, making Su Mu even more curious.

“Don’t block me. This is my computer, let me see.”

In a panic, Miti kicked the power button.

By the time Su Mu saw, the screen was already showing a shutdown prompt.

The crime was unclear now, but at least she had caught the culprit red-handed.

Su Mu glanced at the scattered chips on the table and then looked at Miti, who was dressed in a disheveled manner.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

This girl was like a so-called hikikomori sister, reliable in front of others, but once alone, she indulged in her own way.

At this moment, Miti’s mind was in complete chaos.

Why didn’t Tang Nai, the boss, stop this person as she had said she would?

There was clearly a conspiracy at play.

Tang Nai’s request was for Miti to slow down the repair of Su Mu’s rental place as much as possible and to keep an eye out for any strange people who might show up.

To dawdle and wait for a rabbit to come by?

Wasn’t that the same as doing nothing at all?

But Miti accepted the task very readily, not only because it was easy, but most importantly because——

Su Mu’s computer had some interesting things on it.

Some magical girls were annoyed after reading the fanfiction written by Su Mu, some were indifferent, and some were so excited that they couldn’t wait to read the sequel.

And that person immediately logged on and sent a private message to Su Mu, urging her to update and strongly demanding that all the content about magical girls be completed.

She was Miti, who always presented herself as a reliable older sister but was now caught off guard.

Her current state of mind was as panicked as Su Mu’s had been when Lando cornered her.

“Uh, Su Mu, I can explain this.”

After coughing lightly twice, Miti tried to use a mature tone to pick up the pieces of her shattered image, but Su Mu just silently looked at her, not saying a word.

After a few seconds of stalemate, Miti couldn’t hold it any longer.

“Please keep this a secret, and I’ll do anything.”

To be honest, compared to secrets, Su Mu was more curious about what Miti had been looking at just now.

The question wasn’t complicated, after all, there wasn’t much worth looking at on her computer.

Because of her laziness, she had even left the fanfiction collection folder right there on the desktop.

At this moment, Su Mu suddenly recalled a sentence Tang Nai had once said.

“Did you dream of Lando choking you? Or is Miti more likely to do that kind of thing?”

At the time, she had been puzzled.

Miti seemed so reliable.

But now she gradually understood everything.

The sly and unscrupulous Tang Nai, the two-faced Miti, compared to them, Lando was still relatively normal.

She dared not think about the other two.

What will we, the magical girls… (sob) become… (sob) in the end… (sob)
