Feng Yiqiao led Li Yang to the Agriculture Department’s residence.
Li Yang was full of curiosity along the way.
She would be part of this place in the future, so of course, she wanted to understand it in advance.
The Agriculture Department covered a large area, but its location was quite remote; further west was already outside the campus.
Interestingly, though the area was remote, the star power concentration in the Agriculture Department was much higher than in the fourth-tier dormitory where Li Yang stayed.
Could it be because of the wheat fields?
Li Yang couldn’t quite figure it out.
Behind the wheat fields was a small hill, and it seemed that just over the hill was the outer campus.
The Agriculture Department’s residence was located at the foot of the hill.
Through layers of bamboo forest, Li Yang vaguely saw a particularly exquisite courtyard halfway up the mountain, though she didn’t know whose residence it was.
Feng Yiqiao led Li Yang to a large yard at the foot of the mountain, where the first thing she saw was a large barn.
Many mutated wheat ears were casually piled inside.
Walking around the barn, Li Yang’s eyes brightened.
This was a clean and spacious farmyard, with a row of houses in front and two additional rooms on the side.
Though not as finely decorated as the fourth-tier dormitories, it was tidy and fresh, with a key difference being the abundant star power.
Li Yang couldn’t help but ask, “Teacher, do the Agriculture Department’s students live here?”
Feng Yiqiao casually answered, “Of course.”
Li Yang cleared her throat and asked carefully, “Do we need to pay for accommodation?”
Feng Yiqiao said, “No, no accommodation fees. These students are all ones I’ve raised.”
Li Yang’s heart skipped a beat.
The Agriculture Department is amazing!
It has the wheat (life) fields in the front, and the star power-filled houses in the back, and the best part is… it’s free!
Lü Shunshun and Xia Putao were already waiting in the kitchen.
After Feng Yiqiao led Li Yang over, they both curiously looked her up and down.
Feng Yiqiao introduced Li Yang: “This is Lü Shunshun, a high-ranking first-tier, you can just call her Senior Sister.”
He then pointed to Xia Putao and said, “This is Xia Putao, a mid-ranking first-tier, you can call him Senior Brother.”
Li Yang politely greeted them: “Hello, Senior Sister! Hello, Senior Brother!”
Lü Shunshun and Xia Putao both froze for a moment and simultaneously said, “You, you too!”
Lü Shunshun and Xia Putao were about the same age, and Xia Putao never bothered to call anyone Senior Sister…
As for Xia Putao, he was looked down upon outside the Agriculture Department, and inside the department, he was the youngest, so being called “Senior Brother” made him feel comfortable and satisfied.
How nice… a well-behaved, cute, and capable new student.
Feng Yiqiao waved his hand, “Alright, alright, come eat.”
He then brought out a steamer full of buns and a large plate of pickled vegetables.
Lü Shunshun glanced at it and immediately yawned, clearly tired.
Xia Putao grumbled, “Buns again, buns every day. Can’t we have something nice for once?”
Feng Yiqiao knocked him on the head, “What’s wrong with them? These buns are made from mutated wheat, and at the restaurants outside, they sell for 100 yuan each!”
Xia Putao made a face, “Even if they cost 10,000 yuan each, I’m sick of them.”
Feng Yiqiao glared at him, “Then go to the big cafeteria for a buffet. It only costs one merit point for a meal.”
Xia Putao stopped talking, grabbed a mutated bun, and took a big bite in frustration.
Li Yang was surprised and asked, “Are mutated buns really that expensive?”
Feng Yiqiao coughed lightly and said, “The restaurants outside just use it for marketing… uh, we don’t have much else here, but we have plenty of buns. Feel free to eat.”
Li Yang sincerely said, “Thank you, Teacher!”
Her calling him “Teacher” made Feng Yiqiao blush.
Lü Shunshun and Xia Putao, seeing this, didn’t find it strange and didn’t bother to call out their teacher’s subtle thoughts.
Li Yang picked up a mutated bun, carefully examined it.
The star power in the mutated wheat was condensed into the bun, and sure enough, it had gathered a lot of star power after being made into the bun.
She took a bite and found it fluffy and soft, with a pleasant wheat fragrance.
After chewing a few more bites, there was a sweet aftertaste that lingered in her mouth.
“It’s delicious!” Li Yang exclaimed.
The lazy three from the Agriculture Department:
They thought they were the ones suffering by eating buns every day, but after meeting this poor kid who had never even had a bun before, they couldn’t help but feel like their lives weren’t so bad after all.
After finishing one bun, Li Yang was surprised to find that the star power in the bun gathered into her star orifices.
Though the amount was small, it was much faster than natural recovery.
“Can I eat another one?” Li Yang looked at Feng Yiqiao eagerly.
Feng Yiqiao was soft-hearted and said, “Eat, eat, as many as you want!”
Li Yang happily said, “Okay!”
One bun… two buns… three buns…
Lü Shunshun, who had been dozing off, was no longer sleepy. She blinked and even grabbed a bun, muttering, “Is it really that delicious?”
She took a bite and said, “It seems a bit better than usual.”
Xia Putao, who usually only ate one bun, surprisingly grabbed a second one.
Feng Yiqiao stood there, stunned.
He wasn’t worried about the buns—after all, the Agriculture Department lacked many things, but not buns.
What shocked him was—oh my god, where did this poor kid come from? Eating five buns in one go and enjoying it so much?
After Li Yang had eaten seven buns, she felt embarrassed and stopped.
She could still eat more, the buns were incredibly delicious, fragrant and sweet, and most importantly, once inside her body, they turned into star power that flowed into her star orifices, so she never felt full.
Seven buns were enough to fill one of her star orifices, and since she had three star orifices open, theoretically, she could eat 21 buns.
The amount seemed ridiculous, and Li Yang wasn’t afraid of being called a glutton, but thinking about how much these buns cost outside, she felt too embarrassed to eat more.
100 yuan each.
21 buns would cost 2100 yuan.
She had agreed not to take any pay for the afternoon’s work, but she almost ate her entire wages!
Li Yang awkwardly said, “I’m full now.”
Feng Yiqiao:
Li Yang added, “The buns were really good.”
The lazy three from the Agriculture Department were left speechless, only able to show awkward but polite smiles.
Li Yang quickly stood up and said, “Thank you for the meal. I’ll head back now, and I’ll come by tomorrow morning to do the task.”
“Okay, okay.”
Li Yang left, and the three of them looked at each other, confused.
Xia Putao asked, “Senior Brother, do you think she’ll come tomorrow?”
Lü Shunshun grabbed another bun and took a bite, saying, “We should prepare more buns tomorrow. I feel like she didn’t eat enough.”
Feng Yiqiao:
He didn’t know what to say.
His mind was full of: This is so surreal!
Li Yang returned to the dormitory and happened to bump into Fang Chuyun.
Fang Chuyun asked, “Want to have dinner together?”
Li Yang replied, “I’ve already eaten.”
Fang Chuyun said, “Then I’ll go eat.”
Li Yang thought about what “Dean Si” had said and curiously asked, “I heard the big cafeteria buffet is 1 merit point per meal?”
Fang Chuyun replied, “That’s for the higher-end meals. Regular meals only cost 0.1 merit points.”
Li Yang:
“One thousand yuan for a meal, how is that normal?”
But thinking about the buns filled with star power, she could somewhat understand.
Just like the dormitory, maybe the 1 merit point buffet also has star power infused into it?
Maybe it’s not related to star power at all.
Poverty limited Li Yang’s imagination, just like in her past life, when she couldn’t understand why some people could spend hundreds of thousands on a single meal.
Fang Chuyun went to eat, and Li Yang returned to her dorm.
She had worked all afternoon but didn’t feel tired, just a bit sweaty, like after doing some light aerobic exercise, and felt quite comfortable.
Li Yang took a shower, changed into comfortable clothes, and sat cross-legged on the soft bed.
It was time to check her system panel!
Other stats hadn’t changed, but her lifespan section had gone from 2 years/100 years to 100 years/100 years.
One hundred years!
Li Yang thought happily, “Living to 100 years old is quite a long life!”
However, in this world, there were Star Executors, so human lifespan must have increased, meaning 100 years might be considered prime age.
Li Yang thought about the pile of wheat waiting for her to harvest tomorrow and realized that her lifespan had reached the limit. So… time to consume some life!
Old life doesn’t leave, and new life doesn’t come.
If not now, when?
Li Yang started with her physical strength:
“Consume 5 years of lifespan to increase physical strength.”
As the saying goes, “Money (life) talks big,” and Li Yang let the system see how generous she could be.
The system remained as unresponsive as ever:
[You have closed yourself off for five years of training. Due to the lack of star power around you and limited star orifices, your physical strength increased to 250 points.]
Li Yang: “System, I suspect you’re mocking me.”
System:
Li Yang continued, “Let’s try three more years.”
The 250 increase seemed too coincidental!
The system repeated the same message and didn’t trigger anything special. Her physical strength increased to 280.
Li Yang was displeased, “Before it was 25 points a year, but now it’s back to this?”
The system remained silent.
Li Yang was helpless and could only comfort herself—training was becoming more difficult, which was understandable.
After consuming ten years of life, Li Yang’s physical strength increased to 300 points, and her star orifices also increased from 1% to 100%.
