Chapter 34: Dog Demon 

When Xiao Man realized it was the perfect opportunity for revenge, she immediately sprang into action.

Her moments of consciousness were fleeting, so she had to act before she passed out again!

After all, she had no idea when she would truly wake up, and Xu Yan was no longer her boss. 

If he dared, he could call the police and have them arrest her a vegetative patient!

She nearly tumbled off the bed, lunging toward the man by her side.

Xu Yan was checking his phone, with a story playing in the background, allowing him to multitask between emails and messages. 

Suddenly sensing movement in front of him, he looked up just as Xiao Man flipped over and lunged toward him. 

In the next moment, her hand touched his face.

Xu Yan: “?”

The moment Xiao Man’s hand touched his face, she went limp. 

Instinctively, he reached out to catch her, feeling her slightly cold hand slowly slide down his cheek.

He looked down at Xiao Man, who lay with her eyes closed, lost in thought.

Why had she touched his face?

Did she like his face?

He picked her up and placed her back on the bed, noticing she seemed even lighter than before. 

Perhaps it was the result of prolonged illness and bed rest, causing her to gradually lose weight.

But he couldn’t shake the feeling that her expression when she lunged at him had been somewhat… fierce. 

Was it because she had been lying down for too long, losing control of her facial muscles?

As he pondered, Xu Yan pressed the call button by the bed.

The nurse’s voice came through the intercom, calm and composed, as if accustomed to Xiao Man’s sudden awakenings and immediate relapses into unconsciousness. 

“Has the patient woken up again?”

Xu Yan: “Yes, she’s already unconscious again. This time, she was awake for less than ten seconds.”

After turning off the call button, Xu Yan adjusted the blanket around Xiao Man before stepping back.

When the doctor and nurses entered in an orderly manner, he stepped aside, only speaking when the doctor asked, 

“She didn’t say anything this time. She just rolled off the bed.”

As for her touching his face, it wasn’t important enough to mention.

So why had she touched his face? 

What had she intended to do if she hadn’t passed out?

Xu Yan watched the pale figure surrounded by medical staff, lost in thought.

When Xiao Man woke up in the dog’s body again, she was furious.

She had been so close to hitting him!

She must have passed out just before she could strike Xu Yan, so the touch had been weak and ineffective-it couldn’t even be called a hit.

Damn it, such a perfect opportunity wasted!

Although she had returned to her own body a few times, she hadn’t always been as lucky as today to find Xu Yan nearby.

Han Shuangshuang, seeing the little white dog open its eyes, exclaimed with delight, 

“Xiao Bai, you’re awake! Director Hua said filming is done for today, and you don’t have any scenes tomorrow. We can rest at the hotel or go out and explore the area.”

Xiao Man, however, seemed listless and uninterested.

Unaware of what Xiao Man had been through, Han Shuangshuang assumed she was just tired and carried her back to the hotel.

After a night’s rest, Xiao Man felt refreshed the next morning.

It wasn’t just because she had recovered well, but also because she had had another dream.

The dream started with a terrifying story about eyeballs, complete with sound effects, making it so frightening that she felt surrounded by eyeballs in every direction.

As expected, she didn’t hear the end of the story, but she did hear Xu Yan’s muttering.

“Why did you touch me? Do you like me? 

It’s true, every time you open your eyes, you see me. It’s hard not to develop feelings.”

“But I advise you not to.”

“You can hear me, right? I don’t like vegetative patients.”

Xiao Man woke up from the dream, seething with anger, which ironically made her look exceptionally energetic.

Wait, what did he mean by “touched”? 

She had been trying to hit him!

And “like”? 

Like hell she did!

Fine, she hadn’t used enough force, right? 

Just wait, next time she would!

With no filming scheduled for the day, Xiao Man, fueled by her anger, dragged Han Shuangshuang out for a walk.

Han Shuangshuang was delighted to see Xiao Bai so lively, and the two of them explored the area thoroughly before returning to the hotel, exhausted.

After a good night’s sleep, both of them were fully recharged and ready to continue filming.

During a break, Ji Min approached Han Shuangshuang and said, 

“Director Hua has a friend who’s also filming here. Their crew needs a dog for a couple of scenes. Since they know Xiao Bai is the lead in our movie, they’re wondering if Xiao Bai could work a few extra hours? They’ll pay the market rate.”

Han Shuangshuang glanced at Xiao Bai, who nodded indifferently, so she agreed, “As long as there’s no danger.”

Ji Min smiled, “Don’t worry, Xiao Bai is our lead. Director Hua wouldn’t allow any danger.”

Director Hua’s friend, Director Ning, was filming a fantasy drama that featured a dog demon. 

While CGI could be used, it would be expensive to make it look realistic, and if done poorly, it would ruin the immersion. 

Hearing that this crew had a highly intelligent lead dog, they had come to ask for help.

From this, Xiao Man concluded that Director Ning was very dedicated to his work. 

Otherwise, for such a minor role, they could have just winged it without specifically seeking her out.

Coincidentally, their filming for the day had wrapped up early, and the other crew was shooting night scenes. 

After dinner, Han Shuangshuang took Xiao Bai over.

Upon arrival, Han Shuangshuang met with Director Ning, exchanged pleasantries, and signed a simple contract. 

Then the makeup artist came to prepare Xiao Bai.

In the movie “Secret,” Xiao Man played a dog raised by her grandfather in the countryside, so her current appearance was fine.

However, for the fantasy drama, the makeup artist even found a wig for her.

The makeup artist, a young girl, hesitated before starting, asking Han Shuangshuang, “Is she… gentle?”

What she really wanted to ask was, 

“Does she bite?”

Han Shuangshuang reassured her, 

“Don’t worry, Xiao Bai is very calm.

She then looked at Xiao Bai, “Right, Xiao Bai?”

Xiao Man rolled her eyes.

The makeup artist couldn’t help but laugh at this, instantly relaxing. 

How could a dog that rolled its eyes so adorably be dangerous?

The wig she found matched Xiao Man’s fur color perfectly.

Once it was adjusted and in place, even the makeup artist was impressed.

Han Shuangshuang immediately took out her phone to take pictures.

Honestly, with the short wig covering Xiao Bai’s eyebrows, it hid her comical features. 

When she remained expressionless, she actually looked quite beautiful.

The makeup artist gained confidence. 

According to Director Ning’s requirements, the dog demon was very arrogant. 

While this could be acted out in human form, in dog form, it had to be conveyed through appearance.

She groomed Xiao Bai’s fur, making it look much neater. 

Combined with the wig, she looked completely different from before.

Han Shuangshuang laughed, 

“I never thought I’d experience the ‘ugly duckling turning into a swan’ feeling from a dog.”

The makeup artist chuckled, “Xiao Bai is just too cute!”

She even grabbed Xiao Man’s paw and gave it a squeeze.

After all, Xiao Man had remained perfectly still during the makeup process, which had emboldened the makeup artist.

Once the makeup was done, it was time to start filming.

The fantasy drama had a much more elaborate set. 

Xiao Man, as the dog demon, made her entrance lounging on a tiger-skin rug. 

The low-level female lead had accidentally stumbled into his lair and was brought before him. 

He lazily opened his eyes, then stood up, having fallen in love with the female lead at first sight. 

Despite maintaining his haughty demeanor, his tail wagged furiously.

Director Ning had never imagined he could get a real dog to perform such a scene-being both arrogant and wagging its tail happily. 

Even humans couldn’t pull that off, let alone a dog. 

If it weren’t for Director Hua’s high praise for Xiao Bai’s intelligence, he wouldn’t have even tried.

After explaining the scene’s requirements to Han Shuangshuang, he watched as she repeated his instructions to the dog.

Director Ning: “?”

Filming began.

Was that it? 

Translating Chinese to Chinese? 

No, it was just repeating what he had said. 

If the dog couldn’t understand him, how would it understand its owner saying the same thing?

Director Ning was full of doubts, but out of trust in his friend, he didn’t say anything. 

After emphasizing key points to the lead and supporting actors, he began filming.

He hoped everyone would bring their A-game, as the dog’s behavior was unpredictable. 

What if the dog lost patience and only the first take worked?

Xiao Man climbed onto the tiger-skin throne belonging to her dog demon character and comfortably settled down. 

She heard Director Ning call for action.

The sound of hurried footsteps accompanied by a woman’s sharp voice, followed by a high-pitched male voice saying, 

“Your Majesty, we’ve captured someone!”

The male voice even slurped as if salivating.

Behind the camera, Director Ning was nervous.

 Xiao Bai lay motionless on the throne, as if truly asleep…

Then, Xiao Bai moved. 

She opened her eyes, her gaze filled with impatience and even a hint of menace. 

But when her eyes fell on the bound girl, she suddenly paused, then sat up, her eyes never leaving the girl. 

She lifted her chin, her expression growing even more haughty, but her tail began wagging furiously. 

After a few seconds, as if realizing her own anomaly, she tried to stop her tail, but it wagged uncontrollably. 

Xiao Bai seemed annoyed, then gave up and let it wag.

A voice off-screen said, “Who are you?”

Xiao Bai moved her mouth accordingly.

The girl angrily replied, 

“You dog demon, let me go! My senior brother will kill you!”

Xiao Bai’s tail stopped wagging, and she shifted her posture, staring at the girl.

The off-screen voice asked, 

“Senior brother? What’s your relationship with him? Do you admire him?”

The girl was baffled, “What are you talking about? He’s just my senior brother. Let me go, or when he gets here, you’ll beg for mercy!”

Xiao Bai’s expression grew even more haughty. 

The off-screen voice declared, “Since you have no relationship, you shall be my wife!”

She raised her paw and waved it, and the supporting actors carried away the confused and cursing lead actress.

Director Ning: “Cut!”

After calling cut, he stared at the camera in silence.

After a long pause, he turned to Han Shuangshuang, hesitating, 

“Is it possible… that your Xiao Bai is actually a dog demon?”

Han Shuangshuang: “?”

Han Shuangshuang laughed dryly,

“ha ha ha ”
